What is a VA (Virtual Assistant)?

VAs are self-employed professionals providing office support to businesses remotely via email, telephone, fax or post.  VAs are not employees or temps but freelance contractors, and can offer almost all the office support services you would expect to find in a large multinational organisation but undertaken virtually instead of on site.
